Abraham Pools
This site is said to be among the oldest known monumental places of religion in the world reaching back to around 9600 BC. It includes massive granite columns erected in circles which are thought to serve for some form of ritual. The history of religion and society during prehistoric times has been greatly overturned by the appearance of Göbeklitepe. The pools are caused by natural springs in the area. Their importance is believed to be the supply of much needed water to the communities and livestock in the ancient times.
The Abraham pools have turned out to be among the places of interest for the tourists visiting Göbeklitepe and its environment. They provide a quiet environment for quiet time, for the appreciation of natural beauty and the history of the region.
