Gobeklitepe is a temple complex found in Sanliurfa, Turkey. Its origins date back to over 12,000 years, which makes it being the oldest in the world. The site comprises of circles of large, elegantly carved stone pillars that many have interpreted as belonging to prehistoric religious ceremonies.
Its discovery fundamentally changed the course of human civilization by showing that a sophisticated social and spiritual order existed long before the agriculture. Archaeologists have found different animal carvings and symbols that provide the evidence of beliefs of the archaic societies.
