Acropolis of Pergamum

Acropolis of Pergamum is one of the major Hellenistic cultural and political centers of the ancient city of Pergamum-what is today Bergama in Izmir Province, Turkey. Highly renowned for its rich architecture, like public buildings, theaters, and temples. Main attractions on the Acropolis included the Altar of Zeus, the Temple of Athena, and the amazingly impressive theater with its breath-taking views of the surrounding country.

Pergamum itself was also famous for its contributions to the arts and medicine, as well as its famous library, which ranked as the second-best after that in Alexandria.

The Acropolis of Pergamum was both the very center of the city and at the same time the symbol of its might and cultural influence, a wonder of classical Greek architecture.
