Ancient City Walls of Troy
Troy was an ancient settlement in modern-day North Western Turkey, and one of its most striking features is the Ancient City Walls, which were established some 3700 years ago. It is believed that the city's surrounding walls were constructed during Troy VI, one of the many phases of the settlement's occupation. In addition to gateways, which were constructed to grant and regulate access, the city walls also contain bastions. Notably, the South Gate of Ancient City Walls is distinguished by its immense size and meticulous engineering.
It was common in the ancient world for walls to be built with such meticulousness that they could withstand powerful attacks. These walls along the other are located at Troy Archaeological site, a UNESCO World Heritage site which has captivated people around the world, interested in learning about the great ancient civilization.
