Avanos Town
Right in the center of Cappadocia lies the town of Avanos, famous for traditional ceramics and lovely natural scenery. This small town on the coast of the Kızılırmak River offers beautiful views of surroundings, old ceramic ateliers, and nice alleys.
It is also famous for its history since Hittite civilization. The town, with its old stone houses and shoulder to shoulder market, represents the local life at its best to the visitors. Avanos, besides, can be used as a base for many trips around the beautiful regions of Cappadocia which surround the town including rock formations and cave houses nearby. The workshops of artisans spread in the neighborhood, with a view of the river, are also a must-visit.
