Fener and Balat Districts
Two of Istanbul's oldest quarters are Fener and Balat, painted in every color and steeped in culture. The previous settlement of the Greek Orthodox, Fener is rich with tiny streets and old homes, characteristic of tiny architecture. Old churches have also been in this area. Balat is one of the oldest districts of Istanbul, famous for its colorful markets, different historical buildings, and community atmosphere.
These quarters are also preferred for the investigation of the rich cultural texture of Istanbul and offer a most interesting window on the assorted past of the city.
