German Fountain
In 1898, the German Emperor Wilhelm II donated a lovely historic monument at Sultanahmet Square of Istanbul, also called as German Fountain. The fountain was made in the neo-Byzantine style with bronze domes and marble columns from which intricate mosaic work comes. Apart from the reason that it supplied public water, it was built in memory of the visit of the German Emperor.
This fountain has long been a favorite of tourists to the old district of Istanbul, symbolic of the long-standing relationship between Germany and Turkey.
