Gobeklitepe Archaeological Site

The Gobeklitepe Archaeological Site is one of the most important prehistoric sites in the world and is located in the province of Şanlıurfa. Dating back more than 11,000 years ago, this site is the oldest known temple in the world, composed of gigantic stone pillars set in circular shapes. It changed our understanding of the period when human society began its shift from a nomadic, hunter-gatherer lifestyle to settled lifestyle and farming.
