Istanbul Old City
Old City has a long and layered history; it was first founded by Byzantium in the 7th Century BC. In 1985, it was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites considering its monumental importance and its outstanding universal significance covering many important pieces of art from Byzantine and Ottoman times.
The Old City isn’t only centered on most of the historical events. This area hosts the unique culture of Istanbul as well. Visitors can invest their time in a variety of traditional Turkish dishes in local cafes, visit outlets and shops that attract them.
The Old City district of Istanbul is the real ‘downtown’ of the city, with numerous historical and cultural icons like churches and mosques where each of them is in different style adding to magnificient glory.
Because of its beautiful skyline, historical buildings, and life of the region, Old City must be included in the list of places to see in Istanbul for all the travelers.
