Karatay Caravansarai

Karatay Caravansarai is one of the more striking instances of Seljuk architecture in the 13th century, located in Konya, Turkey. This old inn was a major station on ancient trade routes and features a marvelous courtyard with a greatly decorated gateway. Its nice form and strong stone structure attested to the importance of caravansaries for travel and commerce through the Seljuk period.

 So well-preserved is the Karatay Caravansarai that it remains one of the landmarks giving insight to tourists into the rich historical legacy of the area.
