Mausoleum of Halicarnassus
The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus is one of the most famous extravagant tombs constructed for the first time more than 2300 years ago for King Mausolus, which makes it one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
It was situated where Bodrum city of modern-day Turkey is found, and such an enormous artefact richly decorated with stylish statues and tall massive columns about 40 meters long. It was more or less one of the magnificent structures of the medieval architectural period.
Even though only some portions have survived to date, the visitors are able to view the remaining walls and discover more of its past appearance at a nearby museum. The tomb surprises by the views expanding onto the Aegean Sea.
