Patara Ancient City

Patara Ancient City in Antalya, is one of the best-preserved cities in the Lycian region. Patara was an important trade center, and is geographically notable because of its massive harbor which also happens to be the birthplace of St. Nicholas who is known as Santa Claus.

The city also was the location of the parliament of the Lycian League, a remarkable political institution in the antiquity period and its relatively intact meeting house can still be observed.

Aside from the history impact, Patara has current sandy beach in Turkey, which is among the longest and makes it as one of the top attractions about Patara. At the site, one can also visit ruins of a Roman theater, baths, and an impressive triumphal arch, which embraced a wonderful insight about the site.
