Perge Ancient City
Perge Ancient City, which is near Antalya, is another important ancient city of Pamphylia that was established in 1000 BC. Under the Roman Empire, it expanded prominently and became one of the important centres for trade and culture. Today, the city attracts visitors with its preserved remains of the Grand Roman Theater, a stadium, and city gates that speak volumes of its past.
While in Perge, one could walk around the remnants of colonnaded streets, the Roman baths and temples of the time. It also has an impressive ancient water supply system, aqueducts and a nymphaeum (a terminus monument) which were sources of engineering marvels in those times.
