Thyatira Ancient City
Thyatira was one of the prosperous ancient cities that are located in what is modern western Turkey, known by the manufacturing of purple dye and other textiles. It is one of the seven churches mentioned in the Book of Revelation in Asia Minor and is associated with the early Christian martyr Lydia of Thyatira, who sold purple goods. It contains the ruins of quite a number of buildings, including a temple, Roman theater, and early Christian basilicas.
Presently, tourists visit this archeological site at Thyatira who are interested in learning about its past and the value it held in early Christianity.
