Beach Cemetery (John Simpson’s Grave)

Beach Cemetery is an important site on the Gallipoli Peninsula of Turkey as it is the burial ground of John Simpson Kirkpatrick, one of the most famous Australians who was a stretcher bearer during World War I. A product of courage and sacrifice, Simpson became well-known and famous through acts of bravery against opposition.

This cemetery lies adjacent to ANZAC Cove, alongside which his valiant deeds took place. In memory of Simpson and other soldiers who died during the Gallipoli Campaign, Beach Cemetery is still in use today.
