Hippodrome Square

Hippodrome Square is located within the Sultanahmet neighborhood in Istanbul and was once the center for Byzantine entertainment and public life. It has hosted a series of games and other events up until the Ottoman Empire. The hippodrome was first built in the third century AD as an arena for chariot races.

The German Fountain, the Serpent Column, and the Egyptian Obelisk are just a few of the historical buildings that still survive to this day within the area. It remains to be one of the major meeting places for travelers seeking to learn more about the enchanting history behind Istanbul.
